Albeit with two very close calls Steven Shields has
placed himself atop the Louisiana 113 pounds weight class (and at least to a
degree in the Texas and Tennessee ones as well). Shields got past Jesuit's
Austin Pfister 7-5 on December 13th, and this 3-2 finals victory over Fairchild,
who was undefeated against Louisiana wrestlers prior to these finals, kept him
undefeated on the season. Shields pinned six of his eight opponents on the
weekend, and while only winning the finals by a point, he pretty well controlled
Fairchild throughout the match.
